B Corp Ambassador: Forrest Shearer
Q: Where are you from?
A: Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT
Q: Have a favorite travel spot?
A: Southern area of Chile. So much beauty there from the mountains to the coast. They’ve got perfect mountains with all kinds of terrain to ride.
Q: What’s the change you seek in snowboarding?
A: Snow sports companies need to start thinking about doing business better and be an example for other brands to follow. I’d like to see more products that are environmentally friendly and last longer. Our sport is hugely impacted by climate change and so our community is standing up for the environment. It’s great to see riders joining together as role models and helping influence change so winter will be around for future generations.
Q: Any words you live by?
A: The journey is the reward.
Q: If you could share a chairlift (or hike a backcountry trip) with anyone, who would you invite?
A: Craig Kelly, Jeff Anderson, Dalai Lama, Adam Yauch, Taro Tamai, Jeremy Jones, Thomas Campbell, Margaret Kilgallen. It might need to be a gondola.
Q: What’s your advice for others to stay safe out there?
A: You can never learn too much. Get educated if you’re going into the backcountry, take an avalanche course, and ride with a partner. The mountains are big and gnarly and conditions are always changing. Respect the mountains and our earth. Leave no trace, because in the end we’re only visitors.
Q: Who are some of your favorites in the B Corp family?
A: Patagonia, Elemental Herbs, Guayaki
Q: What does B the Change mean to you?
A: Use your voice. We all have the opportunity to make a difference in this world. Let’s work together for a better world: one where people use business as a force for good. This is B Corp. Imagine the possibilities.
