About 616 Lofts

The 616 Noble Purpose is to create strong, enduring communities. The 616 Tribe works to transform underutilized spaces into thriving places that incubate urban communities where people can work, play, and simply...live.

616 and its stakeholders have dedicated their community-creation-strengths to their very own backyard; the urban community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Here, they raise their children, integrate into the neighborhoods, frequent the local establishments, collaborate with the master planning of the city, create mixed-use-residential buildings, and work daily to evolve their actions to align with a more sustainable way of doing business.

At 616 we place a high value on authenticity and transparency. We respect those in our midst who have edges and aren't ashamed to put them on display. It is our mission to deliver truth and candor in the business place, and a B Corp Certification supports and enhances that mission. Our B Corp certification provides a framework for honesty and illuminates the path to being better humans, building a better business, to build a better community.

The Change We Seek®

616 Lofts was founded on a simple principle that people inherently desire to be connected to other humans. People are wired to gravitate toward strong, enduring communities - the kind that 616 builds and nurtures. The effort to become a B Corp is another example of 616’s evolved way of doing business - not only seeking to build buildings, but people.

Placing a strong emphasis on social and environmental justice issues in their community while still remaining profitable is how companies must operate in the future. In a world full of corporations that are prisoners to their shareholders and profit margins, this certification is another indicator that 616 cares a great deal about doing the important work in a way that everyone can be proud of. The Tribe is a group of doers and big thinkers at the forefront of building a new kind of sustainable urban community.
