About Broughton Consulting, LLC

Broughton Consulting works to align the interests of businesses and their employees so both can prosper. They do this in three ways: by helping companies transition to employee ownership via employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), co-ops, or other mechanisms; by increasing employee engagement and business success through open book management; and by profiling and publicizing companies that have developed innovative strategies to engage employees at all levels.

The firm educates retiring business owners and their advisors about the possibility of employee ownership as an exit strategy and assists companies in implementing ownership strategies. Principal Anne-Claire Broughton is a contract open book management coach with The Great Game of Business, helping firms educate and engage all employees in key business metrics, give everybody in the company a voice, and provide everyone a stake in the financial outcome.

Some of the resources for businesses produced by Broughton Consulting include the Business Action Guide Series of innovative employee engagement practices featuring executives from companies such as King Arthur Flour, New Belgium Brewing, Dansko, Marlin Steel, Tasty Catering, and Zingermans; and the Human Capital Advantage Curriculum designed to help early stage ventures develop intentional cultures of employee engagement from the beginning.

Broughton Consulting chose to become a B Corp because we want to be a part of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. B Corps are actively taking on critical issues around sustainability, engagement, accountability, and the role of business in the world. We are excited to be a part of the conversation.

The Change We Seek®

Broughton Consulting believes that all employees deserve the chance to work hard, earn a decent wage to support their families, save for retirement, and have their voices heard. At the same time, businesses facing an increasingly competitive global marketplace have a key competitive advantage if they can fully engage the ingenuity of all of their people to operate more efficiently and effectively. Employee ownership and open book management are two key ways to align the interests of employees and businesses so that both can prosper.
