About The Impact Investment Group

The Impact Investment Group (IIG) is a private investment and advisory firm with a focus upon identifying investment opportunities in properties and businesses that will create measurable social and environmental benefits in addition to generating commercial returns.  Alongside investors, IIG co-invests in each deal and assumes an active role in the realisation of positive impact in collaboration with stakeholders.  With this commitment to delivering blended value, IIG measures not only financial performance, but social and environmental impact and transparently reports progress and results to investors.

We believe that conscious investment can change the world.  We were drawn to become a B Corporation so as to join and be inspired by the growing community of companies using the power of business to drive social and environmental change.  Furthermore, the commitment of B Corps to a rigorous standard of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency through the certification process lends credibility to the philosophy, approach and products of the social business movement.

Every IIG investment contributes towards the change we all need to see in the world.  Acknowledging that there are challenges facing the world, IIG seeks investments that will deliver a positive impact in one of more of the following areas: socially in matters of equity, education, place and vitality, health and wellbeing, and prosperity; and environmentally pertaining to water, climate, biodiversity, land use and materials.  As such, IIG invests in renewable and clean energy, water technologies, efficient transport, health and wellbeing, information technology, recycling and waste management, financial services and commercial property.  In essence, IIG seeks to mobilise capital for businesses and properties that will improve the world in which we live.

The Worker section of the survey assesses the company's relationship with its workforce. This section measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training, and ownership opportunities provided to workers. It also focuses on the overall work environment within the company through management/worker communication, job flexibility and corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices.

Customers

The Customers section of the Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers. The section focuses on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit, and if those products/services are targeted towards serving underserved populations. Questions in this section will measure whether a company's product or service is designed to solve a social or environmental issue (e.g. improves health, preserves environment or creates economic opportunity to individuals or communities, promotes the arts/sciences, or increases the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises).

The Community section of the survey assesses a company's impact on its community. The Community section evaluates a company's supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. The section also measures the company's practices and policies around community service and charitable giving. In addition, this section includes if a company's product or service is designed to solve a social issue, including access to basic services, health, education, economic opportunity, arts, and increasing the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises.

Company Highlights: 

Governance: Board of Directors reviews company's social performance at least annually; more than 75% of management is evaluated in writing on their performance with regard to corporate social targets; company discloses all financial information at least yearly.

Employees: More than 80% of all individual and family health insurance premiums covered; paid maternity and paternity leave offered to full-time employees; annual performance feedback includes peer and subordinate input as well as written guidance for career development.
