ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a highly resourceful Regulatory Affairs Manager to analyze policy changes for various internal and external audiences and deliver actionable intelligence to support practical outcomes. You will bring a deep understanding of environmental markets and energy policy.

This is a full-time position with a strong preference to be based in our San Francisco office, though Portland candidates may be considered as well. This position reports to the Director of Regulatory Affairs as part of the Regulatory Affairs division.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Analyze, summarize, and effectively communicate policy changes for various internal and external audiences with a primary focus on environmental markets; develop practical recommendations and strategies.

  • Monitor legislation and regulation in U.S. renewable energy and carbon compliance markets for policy changes that impact 3Degrees’ activities and provide strategic input to minimize risk or capture opportunities. Examples include renewable portfolio standards (RPS), carbon cap and trade markets, fuel mix disclosure laws, and PURPA QF regulations.

  • Monitor policy changes to treatment of environmental commodities in various voluntary standards and markets, including the FTC Green Guides, GHG accounting rules, Green-e Energy, Green-e Climate, LEED, WRI, TCR, and CDP.

  • Collaborate with analysts who implement supply-demand models, portfolio risk modeling, market price reporting, and various other research tasks.

  • Research and aggregate data to provide inputs for quantitative models for analyzing supply and demand fundamentals for various state, regional, national, and international markets.

  • Collaborate with analysts who implement supply-demand models, portfolio risk modeling, market price reporting, and various other research tasks.

  • Manage updates to internal websites and other policy tracking tools.

  • Write, review, and edit 3Degrees comments for public submittal in various policy forums.

 

Experience Required:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong research skills and evidence of resourcefulness

  • Ability to connect disparate data points and concepts to identify trends in market activity and market participant behavior

  • BA/BS from an accredited university, masters preferred

  • 2-5 years policy experience in energy and/or climate

  • Experience with power and RPS markets

  • Experience in markets for environmental commodities
