A successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record of sales “hunting” success with large national and global commercial and institutional customers. The overall goal of the Senior Business Development Manager is to develop senior-level relationships with enterprise-class companies and close new business that incorporates the entire suite of 3Degrees climate and renewable energy products and services to deliver against an aggressive quarterly and annual sales plan. These include renewable energy certificates (RECs), carbon offsets and carbon advisory services, and renewable energy procurement (PPAs and VPPAs) and advisory services. Day to day responsibilities include managing the entire sales opportunity process cycle, from cold calling, attending conferences, engaging prospects, defining requirements, building business cases, negotiating and closing new business.

The role requires an experienced, passionate, confident, and professional self-starter with a passion for assisting clients with carbon reduction and/or renewable energy goals. The ideal candidate is someone who effectively navigates large accounts to identify decision-makers and key influencers, identifies customer needs, and works effectively with an internal team of subject matter experts to solve them. This position will work remotely with a strong preference for being based on the East Coast.



  • Develop sales strategy for your assigned market, identifying and prioritizing sales opportunities using your network, social media sites, research and other sources

  • Generate leads through direct prospecting and networking efforts, including attending regional or national conferences, etc. Expected travel approximately 35%.

  • Actively listen to and engage prospects, identifying needs, providing education and guiding to the product that best meets the needs communicated.

  • Manage a complex sales cycle from prospect identification through contract completion, ensuring accuracy in communication and documentation throughout the process

  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships by ensuring loyalty through excellent customer service, timely communication and follow through.

  • Work cross-functionally, collaborating with various internal partners to ensure service excellence

  • Deliver accurate, up-to-date sales forecasts and activity tracking in Salesforce

  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvement, providing input on 3Degrees products, marketing strategies, sales improvements and team collaboration

  • Stay abreast of the renewable energy industry, 3Degrees' competitors, new product offerings and pricing through 3Degrees staff, industry publications, webinars, etc



Experience Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of 5 years of outside sales experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of B2B sales experience selling to VP, SVP, and C-suite level contacts

  • Ability to develop strong customer relationships

  • A “hunter” with a proven track record of success prospecting, identifying, and closing new business and managing a pipeline

  • A desire and passion to assist large commercial clients with achieving carbon reduction and/or renewable energy goals

  • Experience selling Power Purchase Agreements (“PPA’s) or ,Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (“VPPAs), REC’s and/or Carbon Offsets preferred

  • Experience selling energy products or services to major commercial customers preferred

  • Professionally trained on value based selling techniques and strategic solutions selling preferred

  • Experience selling products and services to multi-nationals preferred
