Orbis Environmental believes everyone has a role in helping to create a fairer society and a more sustainable world - this purpose drives everything they do. Orbis is a company founded in the belief that organizations should have society’s and the planet’s interests at its heart, and use this as a lens for all good business decisions to create long-term value for all stakeholders including the environment. They practice this philosophy and are founded on achieving a net positive and a purposeful mission. Orbis select projects and work for-purpose driven clients where they believe they can create the most beneficial social and or environmental impacts.

Orbis Environmental provides advisory and consulting services to help organizations contribute positively to society. They help organizations transition across five areas which are their focus for contributing to a sustainable world. These include: increasing the capacity of organizations to deliver their social and environmental mission, helping an organization to reduce their environmental and social impacts, designing effective stakeholder partnerships, measuring an organization’s environmental and social outcomes and impact, and refining an organization’s leadership, purpose and business model to achieve its goals in creating positive social and environmental outcomes and impact. A key area of their business is working with purpose driven organizations and enterprises to increase their capacity to design and deliver purposeful programs and services to help solve social and environmental problems and create long-term positive change.

Orbis Environmental works hard to solve problems for our clients through developing innovative and collaborative solutions focused on each client’s need; they don’t just “sell” specific consulting services. Orbis is a long-standing business, operating in Australia since 2000 in the areas of measuring and managing environmental and social impacts, environmental auditing, energy demand management and stakeholder engagement. In their second decade of business, we are focused on advising in techniques and strategies to improve the delivery of organization's social and environmental outcomes and impact to create long-term positive societal and planetary system change.

Our business model is different with a significant focus on achieving our mission and impact through selective commissions and pro bono and community work. We aim to be the best we can in delivering positive social and environmental impacts for our clients and partners and B Corp Certification provides us with clear, thorough and transparent measures and goals to help us be the best we can be in achieving positive social and environmental impacts for our clients, partners and the planet.

This section measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training, and ownership opportunities provided to workers. It also focuses on the overall work environment within the company through management/worker communication, job flexibility and corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices.

Customers

The Customers section of the Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers. The section focuses on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit, and if those products/services are targeted towards serving underserved populations. Questions in this section will measure whether a company's product or service is designed to solve a social or environmental issue (e.g. improves health, preserves environment or creates economic opportunity to individuals or communities, promotes the arts/sciences, or increases the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises).

The Community section of the survey assesses a company's impact on its community. The Community section evaluates a company's supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. The section also measures the company's practices and policies around community service and charitable giving. In addition, this section includes if a company's product or service is designed to solve a social issue, including access to basic services, health, education, economic opportunity, arts, and increasing the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises.
