Founded in 2006 in St. Louis, Missouri, and now with offices in Illinois, StraightUp Solar proudly provides turnkey solar project development to private homeowners and businesses as well as government entities, schools and nonprofit organizations. Within the first 9 years of operation StraightUp Solar commissioned over 500 new systems approaching nearly six megawatts (MW) of solar capacity and today enjoys a reputation for solar industry leadership across Missouri and Illinois.

Sustaining stable growth since its inception, StraightUp Solar’s operations center around a core team of of NABCEP-certified energy professionals with proven experience in safe, effective, and optimal engineering design of solar energy systems. The company’s roster contains high-level renewable energy advocacy and policy leaders from both Missouri and Illinois, including current and past presidents of the Missouri Solar Energy Industries Association (MOSEIA) and the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA), as well as senior leadership from Renew Missouri, the core advocacy group responsible for pivotal state renewable energy incentives.

We founded StraightUp Solar upon our C.L.E.A.R.E. values to place Community First, Lead the Solar Tribe, Educate the Solar Lesson, Advocate Always, Respect Others and the Environment, and practice Excellence in All We Do. B Corp Certification is 100% consistent with our core values as we believe that better businesses not only make for happier customers and team members, but are also fundamental for creating a better world. In addition, as a member of the Amicus Solar Cooperative where B Corp certification has become a well-known distinction, we actively contribute to a national collective force of like-minded solar companies evolving beyond business-as-usual by developing best practices to transform our shared future for everyone’s greater environmental, economic, and energy security.

The Change We Seek®

Very simply, StraightUp Solar exists to inspire a Solar Tribe to create a sustainable world. As a very diverse group of local Midwesterners compelled to do their part in a growing global and national movement, StraightUp Solar seeks to change the region’s energy and environmental paradigm by demonstrating and delivering for its neighbors and local communities the very real and quality-of-life enhancing sustainable energy, environmental, and economic choices now available to them. In the pursuit of business excellence, the Team at StraightUp Solar continually prioritizes development of lasting partnerships that meaningfully grow the network of solar, renewable energy, and conservation advocates outwards from America’s heartland. Ideally, as the Tribe grows each new member embraces the same goal to in turn inspire others to follow their lead, ultimately creating an unstoppable revolution.

To make the stated vision of a sustainable world a reality, StraightUp Solar is committed to perfecting a feedback loop from the owners and operators of solar energy systems to determine how best to reach out and bring solar energy into the mainstream. Almost 30% of StraightUp Solar employees own home solar energy systems within a general population demographic that is <1% solar, and each StraightUp Solar employee works at a solar-powered office offering free solar EV charging--they walk their talk. StraightUp Solar is also committed to maintaining the highest level of deployable solar expertise and professionalism by sponsoring technical training and the pursuit of national certifications for all employees.

StraightUp Solar’s local and international benevolent behavior serves the triple purpose of 1) supporting those in need, 2) demonstrating and illuminating the power of solar energy to the broadest audience possible, and 3) providing regular interesting and meaningful pursuits that fuel the societal passions and strengthen the bonds of everyone working so hard on the StraightUp Solar Team.
