About United By Blue

We have always been passionate about the ocean and the waterways that lead us there. United By Blue was founded in 2010, driven by the idea of associating the sale of each product with a concrete environmental action. For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from oceans and waterways through company organized and hosted cleanups.

An outdoor apparel brand located in Philadelphia is something you don't often hear, but we're happy to start changing that mindset. We're inspired by the go-getters, the landscape around the waters we clean, and a really good cup of pour over coffee. We are endlessly putting in that extra effort to make sure our apparel and accessories are not only made responsibly, but also durable for that next great adventure.

We became a B Corp because we have one hand in the apparel industry and the other hand in waste management--and both hands are making a difference!

The Change We Seek®

United By Blue believes that every living creature is united by the blue of our world's oceans and waterways and we all have the responsibility to protect them.

United By Blue believes that as a for-profit business they have the power to help heal our oceans. By associating each product sold with the removal of one pound of trash from waterways, they unite their beliefs with their business. They do not write checks. They do not accept donations. They fulfill their pledge through company-organized and hosted cleanups.

They do this because they believe that for-profit business has just as much a stake in the future of our environment as every citizen and consumer. More significantly, they believe that business has an opportunity to affect real and meaningful change. By associating a concrete environmental action with every business transaction, United By Blue is able to have a measurable impact on this important issue. They accomplish their mission by continuously organizing and hosting ocean and waterway cleanups across the country, bringing together thousands of volunteers to help them pick up things like plastic bottles, tires, cans, appliances, and everything else that makes its way into the aquatic world. So far, they have hosted 127 cleanups and removed over 242,929  pounds of trash from rivers, streams, creeks, and beaches across 21 US states.

The precedent has always been that monetarily successful businesses and environmentally friendly practices could not co-exist. United By Blue believes that this way of thinking is coming to an end. Join us in the #bluemovement.
