Criteria For the B Corp Best For the World List

The ‘B Corp Best for the World’ list honors businesses that earned an overall score in the top 10% of all Certified B Corporations on the B Impact Assessment, a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of a company's impact on its workers, community, and the environment. A company must score over an 80 on the BIA to become a Certified B Corporation; the Best for the World lists honors the best of the best.

• Likewise, the honorees featured on the ‘Best for Communities,’ 'Best for Customers,' ‘Best for Environment,’ and ‘Best for Workers’ lists scored in the top 10% of all Certified B Corps in each of those impact areas.

• Honorees were recognized among sole proprietors, micro (<10 employees), small (10-40 employees), and mid-sized (50+ employees) businesses. Size category is determined by the size indicated on a company's most recent verified B Impact Assessment prior to December 31, 2015.

• Companies were selected based on their score as of December 31, 2015. B Corps certified (or recertified with an updated score) thereafter will be eligible next year.

• Only companies with a Reviewed Version 3 or 4 B Impact Assessment (including both phone and document reviews by B Lab Staff with scores transparent on bcorporation.net) are eligible for inclusion on the Best for the World list. While other institutions, non-profits, and organizations may use the free BIA to assess their own impact, they are not eligible for inclusion on the Best for the World lists.
