About Ecotrust Forest Management

Ecotrust Forest Management (EFM) is a forestland investment management and advisory services company with a business model that generates financial returns, while delivering clear conservation value and strong community benefits. EFM seeks to capture a wide array of funding sources — tax credits, carbon offsets, conservation easements, and restoration funding — to supplement private capital resources in the acquisition and management of forestland. We also believe that in addition to improving forest health, creating reliable jobs for local residents and opportunities for local communities are a fundamental element of good forestry. Our forestry practices are certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

We chose to become a B Corp because we believe that long term stewardship of forestland is fundamental to our business model and that having strong social and environmental governance are critical to achieving our objectives. We share these common values with B-Lab and appreciate the legitimacy that an independent third party entity like B-Lab can provide in assessing the environmental and social claims. We also seek to be aligned with investors and stakeholders in a community that shares our values and the B-Corp community meets that standard!

The Change We Seek®

Ecotrust Forest Management is seeking to demonstrate an alternative approach to forest management in the Pacific Northwest. Since 2004 EFM has developed a style of forest management that enhances economic prosperity for local communities while restoring long-term forest health and productivity. The company has 12,000 acres of private forestland under management in Washington and Oregon and has been able to monetize the environmental and social benefits generated by its management via conservation grants, carbon finance, easements and tax credits. It is seeking to catalyze capital towards a long term model for ecological forestry in the region.
