For 35 years, Hugh Lofting Timber Framing, Inc. has been crafting timber frame homes and structures. Incorporating advanced technology with old world craftsmanship, Hugh Lofting Timber Framing, Inc. is dedicated to hand-crafting energy-efficient homes and structures that are elegant and distinctive. Long interested in the construction and joinery of Chester and Lancaster County barns, Hugh was one of a handful of woodworkers responsible for the revival of the art of timber framing in the United States. Hugh has traveled extensively, domestically and abroad, studying timber framing methods across cultures. His work is influenced by European, Asian and American techniques.
We became a B Corporation to align ourselves with other companies who are succeeding and doing good; proving that the two are not mutually exclusive. Hugh Lofting Timber Framing is committed to the triple bottom line approach that underlies the B Corporation mission and we want to support B Corp’s growth in the business community.
Since its infancy, Hugh Lofting Timber Framing has been dedicated to energy and design. Today the firm has embraced the use of FSC certified timbers and glued-laminated beams, reclaimed and salvaged woods, environmentally aware finishes, structural insulated panels and has a LEED-AP on staff. Their work includes architectural trusses, great room additions, whole home timber frames, commercial inns and office buildings, pavilions and barns.
