Dansko, literally translated as “Danish Shoe,” was founded in 1990 with a simple, flexible-bottom clog. The brand has since expanded significantly, adding more diverse products from casual to dress, and from sandals to boots. Dansko strives to be our stakeholders’ favorite – not the only shoes in our customers’ closets or on our retailers’ shelves, but their favorite; not the only company our employees have ever worked for, but the most rewarding; not the only company that supports the communities that we're a part of, but one that serves to inspire others.
What is the change we seek?
Dansko shall be known as a vibrant example of the power of for-profit businesses to effect social change -- to initiate and exemplify ethical governance, personal and professional growth, community service and philanthropy, and to take responsible and meaningful measures to reduce our negative impact on the planet.
Why we became a Founding B Corporation
Dansko became a Founding B Corporation for the same reason that we’re seeking LEED Certification on our buildings – to resource and learn from the broad-based, independent, third party benchmarking standards that these organizations provide. B Corporation offers us the perspectives and collective power of many like-minded business leaders who strive for excellence in everything they do.
