Impact Makers delivers information technology and management consulting professional services, focused on the healthcare industry. They are a non-stock, "competitive" social venture - the critical difference between Impact Makers and their competitors is that all of Impact Makers' profits go directly to their charitable community partners.
Impact Makers and B Lab have a shared mission to generally promote social purpose organizations. Both organizations are creating innovative ways to insert and enforce the social mission of corporations into the founding principles of organizations. Impact Makers has a unique new "hybrid" social venture model that goes beyond the already rigorous requirements of all B corporations; specifically, Impact Makers does not have any equity ownership (no shareholders) and exists to solely maximize community stakeholder value.
Impact Makers transforms economic value into social value for their community. Specifically, Impact Makers is truly innovative in that it provides professional services at market prices, competes with other firms to win business, pays market salaries to its employees, has a volunteer Board of Directors and books open to the public, and contributes strategic consulting, and all profits, to charitable community organizations.
The Change We Seek™
Our vision is to transform the way businesses support their employees and their communities, and to proliferate our alternative organizational form that helps to achieve this lofty goal. Our specific model turns the profits of our consulting firm into wealth creation for the community rather than for shareholders.
• We encourage our firm’s employees to support and partner with non-profits by spending time with them. We provide every employee the opportunity to spend part of the week, each week, working with our partner organizations, or any community organization they prefer, while being paid by Impact Makers. In this way, our support and partnership with local non-profits deepens well beyond the fiscal support our firm supplies and provides the opportunity for our people to make a personal impact on their community.
We are proud to be partnered with Rx Partnership, an innovative nonprofit that provides free medication to thousands of low-income, uninsured Virginians each year. Rx Partnership creates a streamlined and cost-effective process that helps connect pharmaceutical companies to free clinics and community health centers in Virginia, resulting in the shipment of free medication for eligible, uninsured people who need it for the treatment of many chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
As of December 16, 2010 Impact Makers has entered into a partnership with CHIP of Greater Richmond. Each month Impact Makers will be donating at least $1,000 a month to help support CHIP and the critical work that they do. CHIP is a service based organization that provides health and prevention support to children up to 6 years of age. Because of this partnership CHIP will be able to spend less time fund raising and more time ensuring that the next generation grows up happy and healthy.
