TS Designs became a B Corporation because we wanted to add definition and legitimacy to our current efforts of looking after people and planet. We want to show everyone that being a B Corporation means that not only do we talk the talk, but we walk the walk.

TS Designs has started Cotton of the Carolinas, an effort that harvests cotton and manufactures shirts all within North and South Carolina. The farthest distance in the entire process is 700 miles, as opposed to 16,000 miles from globally-sourced cotton shirts. We have kept the entire process local, which means all of the materials and all of the jobs remain here in the Carolinas.

The Change We Seek®

The mission of TS Designs is to build a sustainable company that simultaneously looks after People, the Planet, and Profits. Our vision is to transform the world we live in, both in small and large measures alike. TS Designs wants to show that an aware consumer does care about the true social and environmental costs of their products and that our triple bottom line business model can thrive in such a market.

• We envision a world where no harmful chemicals are produced, worn, or discarded. Typical dyes contain PVC and pthalates, which are both harmful to the environment, and result in a plastic print that is not breathable. Our water-based inks soak into and become part of the cloth itself, similar to the way water-color paint soaks into paper. The result is a breathable, durable print that will not crack or wash away and does not create any harmful by-products.

• We apply the same sense of stewardship that guides our quest to eliminate harmful chemicals to every other aspect of our environmental impact. Some of the steps we have taken include installing a tracking solar array and a wind turbine, as well as using compost to heat our facilities and much more.

• We want to be a different kind of business, one not only applicable to the apparel industry but one that can be applied to any manufacturing business. Integral to our success is our employees and we strive to provide them with a high standard of living. We hope that other manufacturers will follow our lead.
