Longleaf II LLC was established to acquire a historic African American Mason Hall for rehabilitation as a center for community service. The once prominent gathering space was collapsing from neglect and had become an eyesore and crack house in a minority community. The building qualified for historic status and was renovated to preserve its historic significance. Mason artifacts and records found in the building were donated to the local museum and a historic preservation easement was given to the Baldwin County (AL) Historic Commission. The easement insures the façade of the building will always be preserved and visitors can always access the building. The building is donated rent free to Outward Bound Alabama, Five Rivers Center. This division of Outward Bound is a non profit that serves at risk and adjudicated youth in south Alabama.
We became a B Corp because the ideals of the movement fit with the way we conduct business: We are fair to those we work with, we believe in the value of historic preservation as a form of sustainable building methods and we believe in sharing what we are lucky enough to have. By becoming the first Alabama B Corporation, we wish to spread the word about another way of doing business in Alabama.

Longleaf II also manages timber lands that are certified as an Alabama Treasure Forest and certified Tree Farm. These designations recognize sustainable forestry practices that benefit wildlife and endangered species. Longleaf Farm is a 340 acre preserve of Longleaf pine savannas and rare pitcher plant bogs. It is also home to several endangered species including a gopher tortoise colony, an occasional black bear and the eastern indigo snake. The use of this farm is donated to Outward Bound for wilderness activities.
The Change We Seek®
Longleaf II forgoes annual profits to focus on doing what is right with their assets. They donate the use of holdings to non profits rent free and they maintain the integrity of their land in an environmentally sound way. They treasure the opportunity to share their lands with endangered species. They take pride in recycling building materials for structures that benefit the community. They want to set an example for those in their region who seek the greater good with their blessings.
