Next Street

About Next Street

Next Street was founded in 2005 and built around an idea: to equip urban small business owners with the same of level of expertise and access to capital that Wall Street, Madison Avenue, and the premier consultancies provide to FORTUNE 500 companies. Next Street provides financing and strategic advisory services to some of the most dynamic companies in America’s most dynamic markets: its cities. It helps successful urban small businesses and non-profit organizations with $5 million to $50 million in revenues navigate the challenges that come with growth. Of the 90 plus clients Next Street has served to date, more than half are located in low-to-moderate income areas and three quarters are women- or minority-owned.

Next Street became a B Corporation because it is committed to leveraging the power of business to promote economic development across America’s cities.

The Next Street merchant banking model transforms how small businesses access capital and advice. Its portfolio companies benefit from sophisticated capabilities that ignite and accelerate growth:

Unmatched experience in business financing, management strategy, organizational development, and marketing

Access to growth capital

Direct relationships with banks, government agencies and other institutions that affect business outcomes

The Change We Seek®

Next Street’s model represents a new enterprise for a new economy. Its goal is nothing short of promoting economic development on a meaningful scale and transforming how capital and business advice are provided in this market. Next Street seeks to unlock the potential of urban small businesses to create value in the marketplace; produce and retain jobs; improve standards of living; and produce sustained economic vitality in their communities.
