About Energy Opportunities

Energy Opportunities, Inc. (EO) provides technical consulting services on projects relating to energy management, efficiency and conservation, renewable energy systems, and the environmental impacts of human enterprises. They understand the synergies between building systems, which is key to optimizing energy performance, at the lowest cost. From new construction and renovations, to net zero energy and deep energy retrofits—they’ve been pushing the efficiency envelope since 1981.

As part of 7group they have developed an international reputation for leading-edge work in the fields of integrative and regenerative design and operations. The key to cost-effective green design is the practice of integrative design.  This multi-disciplinary approach mandates that all design team members participate early in the design process by focusing on ways to downsize or eliminate building systems.  Their efforts on over 100 past projects have resulted in significantly smaller HVAC systems, significantly fewer light fixtures, the elimination of perimeter heating systems, optimized HVAC system location, and other integrated solutions that have reduced both first cost and operating costs. This led to a book on the subject, The Integrative Design Guide to Green Building: Redefining the Practice of Sustainability, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2009.

We have always approached our work from an environmental perspective first and foremost, so certification as a B Corporation allows us to continue our mission of developing solutions to environmental problems even if they do not always maximize profit.  It is one thing to claim that you walk your talk but B Corp certification provides third-party verification that we really do.

The Change We Seek™

Fundamentally, EO envisions a world where humans devote their enterprise toward the benefit of all life by fostering mutually beneficial exchanges and relationships between all beings. Humans need to understand that we cannot separate ourselves from the environment.  That which benefits all species provides the maximum benefit for our own species. In short we seek to change people’s hearts and minds one project, and one conversation at a time.

With that broad goal in mind, EO seeks opportunities to engage all stakeholders in the conversation and encourage them to think holistically and systemically in pursuit of synergies that produce realistic solutions.  The development of regenerative intentions is a trajectory of large and small steps in a direction.  They channel their activities in this direction and invite others to come along.
