About Vert & Vogue

Founded in 2008, Vert & Vogue is an independent retailer of contemporary goods for women, men and home. Our flagship store is in the historic Five Points district of downtown Durham, North Carolina. We also operate a growing online business.

We were founded with the intention of bringing joie de vivre to all those that touch V&V and positive impact to the world. By demonstrating our core value - CARE - in all that we do, we work to fulfill this mission.

Due to globalization and fast fashion, the retail clothing industry has become the second most-polluting in the world and one of the most inhumane. The supply chain has been scattered across the globe as big brands have raced to the bottom to find the cheapest labor and cost of doing business possible, in countries where there are few if any worker and environmental safeguards.

In response to this, we demonstrate great care in how we create our collection. We invest in quality goods with timeless design that are built to last. The majority of these goods are made in the US with natural fibers and sustainable textiles. We invest in independent, conscientious, majority women-owned designers who produce on a small, sustainable scale, and lead green innovation in the fashion industry.

Since our founding we’ve also invested in our local community. Most importantly, we chose to support and be a part of the revitalization of downtown Durham, which is creating a dense, walk-able city center, and antidote to suburban sprawl. We have supported local non-profits Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) since 2012 and SEEDS since 2009.

We’re excited to be a B Corp now (as of December 2017!) because it enables us to constantly find new opportunities to extend our value of care across our operations, making an even more positive impact for our team, community and the planet.
