About Organic Planet Handcrafted Foods

New Zealand born chef and cooking teacher, Lindsay Gilmour, is the owner of Organic Planet Handcrafted Foods, a Philadelphia-based company providing personal chef services and culinary education. Lindsay has over 30 years experience in the food industry and 24 years studying and teaching the use of food as a tool for disease prevention and healing. Organic Planet caters to customers with specialized dietary needs and is committed to the principle that our health and our environment are inextricably linked. In her work Lindsay uses only the highest quality foods, local and sustainable whenever possible, avoids toxic chemicals, composts 100% of food waste, minimizes the use of non-renewable products and recycles or reuses all paper goods, glass and plastic.

We became a B Corp because we wanted to join a community that sees and values the interconnected nature of the economy, the environmnet, our health, and the quality of our lives.

Lindsay is a long-time local food systems advocate. She currently functions as the Farm to Market Liaison for Common Market, a Philadelphia based nonprofit that distributes locally grown food to schools, hospitals, universities and eldercare facilities in the Philadelphia region. Formerly manager of the Fair Food Farm to Institution and Farmer Outreach programs, Lindsay serves on the board of Fair Food Philadelphia, is board co-chair of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, and board co-chair of Green Village Philadelphia.

The Change We Seek®

Organic Planet is committed to purchasing goods and services from locally and regionally owned businesses for all our activities whenever possible, with a particular emphasis on supporting local family farms. We define local as within 100-mile radius and regional as within 300-mile radius of Philadelphia. For all our purchasing we are conscientious in sourcing from businesses we know to be engaged in Fair Trade and farms that use sustainable growing methods. As much as possible we avoid purchasing products that generate waste that we cannot recycle or compost. We enjoy building direct relationships with our primary suppliers and believe this leads to better service, better and safer products, and a stronger, more responsible business community.
