About Rivanna Natural Designs

Rivanna Natural Designs creates awards, plaques, and gifts made from FSC-certified woods, bamboo, recycled glass, and other planet-friendly materials. Rivanna began in 2001 with a simple objective: to create green jobs for refugees and others in Central Virginia who needed safe, meaningful, and rewarding employment.

We believe that products that express gratitude, reward performance, and celebrate excellence should honor – not harm -- the planet and the people who create, purchase, or receive them. We became a B Corp to reaffirm our commitment to this belief, to support others in the B Corporation community, and to learn how we can build better products, create a better workplace, and be a better community partner.

The Change We Seek®

Unlike most award vendors, Rivanna designs and manufactures the majority of its products. This has enabled the company to control material inputs and outflows and adhere to an environmental standard significantly higher than the industry norm. Deeply committed to preserving the world’s forests, Rivanna obtained its chain-of-custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) prior to shipping its first product in 2002.

Rivanna respects natural systems and accepts responsibility for the effects of its actions on the environment. As a manufacturer, the company is keenly aware that its materials and processes have environmental impacts. The task is to minimize adverse impacts and, whenever possible, use restorative (as opposed to depletive) materials and methods of production.

Rivanna’s goal is to create more and better fair-wage jobs for people who most need them. Since 2001, Rivanna’s community partner in this effort has been the Charlottesville office of the International Rescue Committee, which provides valuable insights regarding how best to meet the employment and training needs of recently-arrived refugees.

Rivanna strives to bring fresh light and healthy air to a small corner of the awards industry with elegant, innovative designs that uphold the company’s commitment to planet and community. With the help of extraordinary and inspiring clients (now in 48 states), Rivanna Natural Designs plans to create more green jobs and find better ways to give back.
