Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort

About Sleeping Lady

"The strongest emotion anybody has is their sense of place. Sleeping Lady is a magical place on the East side of the Cascade Mountains of Washington State at the base of a steep canyon where families, groups and individuals can come and be close to nature and at the same time can have the luxury of fine dining, good rest and contact with one another." Harriet Bullitt

Sleeping Lady, situated just outside the town of Leavenworth in Washington State's majestic Cascade Mountains has long been known for its sustainable and ecologically-minded practices. The site was once the location of the Civilian Conservation Corps, known as Camp Icicle, during the 1930s and 1940s. When longtime owner of the neighboring property, Harriet Bullitt purchased the land in 1991, eighteen buildings which had been a part of the camp were saved and remodeled to meet or exceed current building and energy codes. New buildings were constructed to blend with the original style and the land was replanted with native vegetation. A certified organic 2-acre garden supplies much of produce to Sleeping Lady's restaurants. The chef sources the remaining ingredients from local famers and purveyors supporting Chefs Collaborative principals.

Our mission is to provide a year-round retreat where nature, performing arts, outdoor recreation and healthful dining inspire reverence for Earth's life-giving wellspring.

A portion of Sleeping Lady's profits benefit the Icicle Fund which support the environment, arts and history of the Wenatchee River watershed and neighboring landscapes.

The Change We Seek

Environmental conservation and a reverence for the natural landscape of Icicle Canyon are essential elements of Sleeping Lady's mission and vision. They aspire to be models for both the eco-building and ecotourism industries, and to demonstrate the benefit of conservation in our daily operations.

Sleeping Lady strives to be an inspiration for local businesses, the lodging industry, and each and every one of its guests.

"I want people to leave here and feel as though they can change their corner of the world." Harriet Bullitt
