The studio emphasizes collaborative development, whether it be creating engaging and fun entertainment games for brands such as Disney & Cartoon Network, crafting high quality educational games in partnership with instructional designers, or being members of research teams working to develop and assess video games used for education, health, and other purposes. With a track record of shipping more than 50 games across numerous genres and platforms, 1st Playable is a licensed developer for Nintendo 3DS and DS, iOS, Android, LeapFrog, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, as well as other embedded game platforms.

We were delighted to find that the B Corp assessment captured many facets of our social impact mission. The formal standard provides both accountability for current practices and a framework to develop future goals. In fast-paced industries the B Corp standard lends credibility and objectivity to what could otherwise be dismissed as unwarranted idealism.

The Change We Seek

1st Playable Productions seeks to create a sustainable company creating games to entertain and educate while fostering a positive and forward-thinking culture to the benefit of NY's Tech Valley region and the world-at-large. 1st Playable aims to achieve its goals through the creation of great games with positive impacts on those who play them, developing an atmosphere of employee engagement and activism, and sponsoring events such as the Games in Education Symposium (http://gamesineducation.org/) at no cost to educators. At GiE participants obtain hands-on experience with games and technology with presentations by teachers who are already using them in the classroom to further learning. All 1P employees volunteer time and energy to outreach to and build community and educational organizations. 1st Playable employees give back by helping inspire and develop the next generation by mentoring students, working with local schools to incorporate internship programs, establishing after school programs, organizing game jams, volunteering for industry and community organizations, and much more.
