About Bulb Energy

Bulb is the future of energy. They give consumers a choice of energy they haven’t had before that is fast, reliable, affordable and of course renewable. Their mission is to transform the way energy is bought, used and produced.

Co Founders Amit Gudka and Hayden Wood worked in the energy industry and saw consumers were getting a raw deal. People were being charged too much and experiencing terrible service. Hayden and Amit kept coming across people that wanted to buy renewable energy but couldn't because it was too expensive. So they started Bulb to give people a choice of low cost affordable energy and excellent service.

Bulb uses technology to keep costs low and quickly passes reductions in the cost of energy onto its members. The 100% renewable electricity Bulb sells is sourced from independent, run of river hydroelectric plants in North Wales and Scotland and the 10% renewable gas (the cleanest on the market) comes from biomethane gas plants outside Oxford

Since we started Bulb, we have been driven by a core principle: that companies have a social and environmental responsibility over and above making a profit. It’s key to what we’re doing here at Bulb and when we found out about B Corp certification - and the growing #BtheChange community across the world that was trying to do business in a different way - we wanted to be part of it! Whether it's being a Living Wage employer, taking care to support our fantastic #TeamBulb members' development or working with local community groups to amplify their social impact work - we're proud so much of what we do overlaps with B Corp principles. We look forward to learning from other B Corp members and continuing to improve how we do business and the positive social and environmental impact we have.

The Change We Seek®

In order to truly transform the way energy is bought, used and produced people need to regain agency in their decisions around energy usage. Bulb knows it has to inspire people with an optimistic vision for the future that drives a demand revolution for renewable energy. They want to democratise renewable energy, help people reduce their usage by enabling new technologies like electric cars and domestic solar. And to provide an example to energy suppliers all over the world that there's a better way to provide energy.
