About Cafe Campesino

Cafe Campesino unites coffee lovers who believe they can contribute to making the world a better place. Farmer-owned cooperatives throughout Latin America, East Africa and Indonesia supply Cafe Campesino and its Florida-based roastery, Sweetwater Organic Coffee, with exceptional fair trade, organic-certified green coffees.

Then, Cafe Campesino and Sweetwater showcase the farmer’s attention to quality by roasting and supplying their coffees to restaurants, natural food stores, coffee shops, universities and individual consumers across the United States. Cafe Campesino also operates a retail coffee shop in Americus, Georgia.

Shortening the coffee supply chain, connecting consumers to small-scale farmers, sustaining meaningful trade relationships and engaging customers in the coffee industry has been at the heart of Cafe Campesino’s work for nearly 20 years.

We are thrilled there is finally a certification system that mirrors the rigor of assessment and demand for transparency that fair trade, organic-certified coffee farmers have been asked to provide for years. It is important that our trading partners, consumers and employees all know that doing the right thing by people and the environment is as important as our profitability. Becoming a Certified B-Corp reinforces our commitment to positively impact the coffee industry and the communities in which we work. It also gives us a new platform to communicate and collaborate with like-minded entities.

The Change We Seek®

Over time, meaningful trade relationships- fueled by conscious consumers- change lives. Dirt roads get paved in remote coffee communities, cooperative leaders learn to better negotiate coffee contracts, small farmers develop organic practices that increase yields, roastery employees learn Spanish to better communicate with producers, and home consumers, from time-to-time, turn into wholesale customers.

Cafe Campesino and Sweetwater exist to facilitate these types of positive changes in people’s lives. With every cup of coffee, every telephone conversation, every visit with a coffee cooperative, Cafe Campesino & Sweetwater are partnering with small-scale farmers, connecting communities and inspiring conscious consumption.

In doing so, Cafe Campesino works as an agent for change in the coffee industry- encouraging other roasters and importers to seek win-wins for consumers and producers.
