About Eve-Volution Inc

Eve-Volution is the publisher of Liisbeth, an online, community supported magazine that examines entrepreneurship, start-up ecosystems, and investment culture via a feminist lens. They also provide program design and delivery support for incubators and accelerators looking to diversify their client base and who aim to foster a more inclusive environment.

We strongly believe that companies today need to intentionally govern and manage their operations in a generative manner. We also believe in continuous improvement. This means its important to benchmark yourself alongside 3rd party defined best practices. B Corp helps us get beyond doing good--it helps us do good, right.

The Change We Seek®

Eve-Volution is concerned about growing inequality of opportunity, the growth of the precarious employment sector which includes bootstrapping entrepreneurs in start up mode, and the exploitation of freelancers. With continued wage gaps, and fewer good jobs, it's no surprise that entrepreneurship is emerging as the foundation of our new global economic and cultural reality. Everyone will be an entrepreneur at some point in their life.

But this dimension of the economy is seriously out of balance and policies designed to support the entrepreneurial journey need review. To ignore this amounts to incredible unrealized social and innovation driven economic potential being left on the table.

Minorities, entrepreneurs over 50, and women* (defined in gender expansive terms) continue to be seriously under represented and under-supported in the start-up space. The culture of many incubators and accelerator spaces, and unconscious biases of investors and lenders means many talented value creators are left out in the cold.

The change Eve-Volution seeks is to foster a more inclusive start-up eco-system, and encourage more diverse approaches towards support for talented and prepared entrepreneurs everywhere regardless of race, class, gender identify, gender, and zip or postal code. They also agitate for tax code change so that entrepreneurs can get on with building companies that employ others but afford healthcare (stay healthy) and childcare (manage full suite of responsibilities) while they do so. They would also like to see a review of bankruptcy laws-especially in Canada. They are outdated given our new realities.
