About Inflection

Inflection is a trust and safety platform for the blended online and in-person connections we make today. Since 2006, Inflection has organized billions of public records into solutions that verify identities and check backgrounds while safeguarding privacy. As a Certified B Corp, they strive to advance ethical information practices in hiring, the on-demand economy, and government data.

Their portfolio includes:

  • GoodHire, employment screening for people who care about people. They humanize background checks by helping employers and job candidates build relationships based on mutual trust, safety, and fairness
  • Community Safety, which provides automated, FCRA-compliant background checks to promote trust in the on-demand and sharing economy
  • Identity.com, an online identity verification service that promotes participation in the Internet economy
  • PeopleSmart,  a privacy-first people search engine that connects people and protects sensitive personal information

At Inflection, we take a values-led approach to doing business, questioning norms as we focus on our mission to build trust online. We became a B Corp out of a desire to do good within the current for-profit paradigm while pushing for its continued evolution. We’re especially committed to this goal as we work in three areas where digital disruption and dramatic social change are underway: hiring, the on-demand economy, and public data.

The Change We Seek®

Inflection seeks to contribute to a more diverse and inclusive society. To get there, they build products like GoodHire True Me, which empowers job seekers to see their background check results and add context around criminal records in their own words. They are pushing their industry to adopt people search best practices that emphasize privacy rights and data stewardship. And they carefully consider how technology intersects with social issues like recidivism, government surveillance, algorithmic bias, and predictive intelligence.

This section measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training, and ownership opportunities provided to workers. It also focuses on the overall work environment within the company through management/worker communication, job flexibility and corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices.

The Customers section of the Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers. The section focuses on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit, and if those products/services are targeted towards serving underserved populations. Questions in this section will measure whether a company's product or service is designed to solve a social or environmental issue (e.g. improves health, preserves environment or creates economic opportunity to individuals or communities, promotes the arts/sciences, or increases the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises).

The Community section of the survey assesses a company's impact on its community. The Community section evaluates a company's supplier relations, diversity, and involvement in the local community. The section also measures the company's practices and policies around community service and charitable giving. In addition, this section includes if a company's product or service is designed to solve a social issue, including access to basic services, health, education, economic opportunity, arts, and increasing the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises.
