Macroclimate® is a new kind of investment company: one that uses financial science, expert opinions of climate scientists, and state-of-the-art automation technology to help you invest better — in an environmentally-responsible way. $100M of assets under management. Macroclimate® donates 5% or more of it annual revenue to environmental research and climate action.

Macroclimate® is unique in the investment world in that we’ve oriented our whole business and practice around climate risk. We believe that, by accelerating the fossil fuel divestment movement, we can not only measurably improve climate outcomes, we can improve financial outcomes as well.

The Change We Seek®

Macroclimate® seeks to reduce climate risk by diverting capital from climate stressors to more climate-resilient alternatives. Equally important, the firm aims to give everyday investors successful investment experiences at low cost via state-of-the-art digital technology. In short, long-term investors need not sacrifice expected returns to do what’s “Best for the World”.

When the firm’s founders (father Mark and 30-something sons Peter and Jesse) became increasingly concerned about climate change in 2009, they decided to do something about it. What resulted was the world’s first “fossil free” automated investment service, and in the process, great joy from working together as a team to build a solution that could make a meaningful difference.

The Customers section of the Assessment measures the impact a company has on its customers. The section focuses on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit, and if those products/services are targeted towards serving underserved populations. Questions in this section will measure whether a company's product or service is designed to solve a social or environmental issue (e.g. improves health, preserves environment or creates economic opportunity to individuals or communities, promotes the arts/sciences, or increases the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises).

The section also measures the company's practices and policies around community service and charitable giving.
