About Singularity University

Singularity University (SU) is a California benefit corporation with the mission to educate, inspire and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies toward solving humanity’s biggest problems. They call these the eleven Global Grand Challenges because they represent the biggest opportunities to positively impact billions of lives. Their community shares a vision of achieving abundance in water, food, energy, security, global health, prosperity, environment, learning, governance, space, and disaster resilience.

Together with a highly engaged alumni community in over 90 countries, SU is committed to creating positive and sustainable global impact by helping leaders see, design, test, and ultimately create solutions to a better future. Headquartered at NASA’s Research Park in the heart of the Silicon Valley, SU was founded in 2008 by Ray Kurzweil and Peter Diamandis.

Through transformative programs, curriculum, conferences, and workshops all led by world-leading experts and innovators, participants learn to understand the future, identify threats, discover opportunities for innovation and growth, and shift limiting mindsets. SU’s incubator and accelerator programs ensure organizations innovate with exponential technologies to radically increase their impact on the world at large, for the better.

In addition, Singularity Hub chronicles the breakthroughs, trends, players, and issues shaping the future of technology and abundant thinking, thus inspiring a global community of smart, passionate, action-oriented people who want to change the world.

Singularity University is catalyzing a global innovation ecosystem comprised of multiple stakeholders - corporations, entrepreneurs, universities, governments, development organizations and investors - who create high-impact partnerships and collaboration at a global level. Program participants and members of our community represent high diversity in geography, expertise, gender, industry, functional role, and organization type. This community of like-minded change agents also lead and advocate the SU mission in their local communities through alumni chapters, salons, global summits, and Regional partnerships.

From the beginning, our founders and leaders recognized the value in running a business to have positive impact. In January 2012, Singularity University was one of the first companies to file for Benefit Corporation status in the state of California. To accelerate our journey toward solving humanity’s grand challenges, we rely on the B Labs Assessment tool and Certification to help us track and measure the positive impact we’re having on people. We seek to reach billions! We also believe that the B Lab network of like-minded organizations and resources will help find new means of fulfilling our mission.
