About

Have you heard? There’s a growing global movement to use business as a force for good, and over 8,000 companies are leading the way. These Certified B Corps meet high standards for social and environmental impact, set and verified by B Lab. Every year during March, our community joins together to celebrate everything it means to be a B Corp. In 2024, we’re showing the world how we are always growing our impact. Because B Corp certification isn’t a destination, it’s an invitation to join the journey to better business. And we want to bring as many people along for the ride as we can. Will you join us?

 FAQs

  • B Corps are for-profit companies that have committed to use their business as a force for good. To qualify, they have to meet high standards for social and environmental impact; make a legal commitment to be accountable to all stakeholders (like workers, customers, and the planet) not just shareholders; and demonstrate transparency by sharing information publicly.

B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and materials. B Corp Certification is holistic, not exclusively focused on a single social or environmental issue. Read more about B Corp Certification.

  • B Corp Month is an annual, global campaign designed to increase awareness about B Corps and how they’re different from other businesses. Every year during March, B Lab and Sistema B (the nonprofit network that certifies companies as B Corps) and the global community of over 8,000 B Corps join together to celebrate everything it means to be a B Corp.

  • Everyone can take action to help make business a force for good.

You can find and support B Corp businesses in your community by searching our directory.

Workers and leaders at companies can take the B Impact Assessment (for free!) to see how your business compares, and start the journey to becoming a B Corp.

Practitioners, academics, policymakers, and other folks interested in best practices in sustainability, workers’ rights, and governance can read and give feedback on the latest draft standards that will define what it means to be a B Corp in the future.

And if you use social media, search #BCorpMonth to find and share stories about responsible, sustainable businesses and inspire others to join in.

  • Individual choices absolutely matter. (See the previous question for some ideas, if you’re not sure where to start.)

But we are strongest when we act collectively. That’s why B Lab works to build a movement of B Corps, strengthened by partnerships.

So, when you take an action, consider sharing it and encouraging others to join you. Bring a friend with you to a B Corp store or event. Talk to your boss about how you can use the B Impact Assessment to start improving your company’s environmental impact. Better yet, get your colleagues involved, too. Together, we can shift behaviors, norms, and even systems.

  • Yes. This is part of what makes B Corp Certification different: it’s not just about what you say, it’s about what you do. We assess companies’ actions when it comes to how they treat their workers, communities, customers, and the environment.

Our latest Annual Report has lots of data on the collective impact of B Corps around the world. Go right to the “What We Achieve” section to see how B Corps are making a positive impact when it comes to climate & environment, workers, and governance & accountability.

  • Are they listed in our directory of B Corps? Do they include the Certified B Corporation logo on their website, packaging, or other materials? If so, you can trust that they’re legit.
