Skoll Foundation Recognizes Global B Corp Community
Today, the B Corp community was recognized on a global stage thanks to your support.
At midnight last night the Skoll Foundation announced B Lab as one of this year’s recipients of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. The Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship is given each year to organizations that “are disrupting the status quo, driving large-scale change, and are poised to make an even greater impact on the world.” Skoll has been closely following the growth of the global movement of Certified B Corps, and believes in its ability to affect social change on a wide scale by redefining success in business.
This award belongs to us all.
Together, we have built a community of nearly 1,000 Certified B Corps in over 30 countries, passed legislation to create a new corporate form in 20 states, developed tools to help businesses and investors measure their impact, and collectively launched the B the Change campaign to celebrate and reward our community's 25 million fans and followers who use business as a force for good. In only a few short years, this community has shown themselves to be the leaders of not just a movement, but a new sector of our economy. The Skoll Foundation is betting on us to "create better futures for millions."
The entire community of B Corporations and their supporters is what make this movement worthy of recognition. You challenge the status quo every day, whether you work at a B Corp, buy from them, use the B Impact Assessment, or simply spread the word. It is through our ever-growing global community that our greatest impact is made, and we are truly humbled to see how each and every B Corporation has chosen to become a leader in their own space. Thank you for your support and commitment to redefining success in business. Together we are working to be not just best in the world, but best for the world—and the world is taking notice.
