About Blue Hill Partners

Blue Hill Partners is an energy services company that provides specialty energy efficiency retrofits as a fully funded, turnkey service.  The Company partners with best-in-class technology, engineering and construction partners. They fund and manage the entire process: assessment, design, engineering, installation, and commissioning.  Blue Hill also monitors and maintains the equipment and covers the labor and equipment costs of any product failure over the term of the service agreement.  The Company provides user-friendly reports and analysis to support the client’s operations and sustainability reporting objectives. Clients have no out of pocket costs for the retrofits, and pay a service fee to Blue Hill over the service term for the efficiency, maintenance, and monitoring services. These payments are based on the actual energy savings of the upgrades – so Blue Hill is only successful when the projected savings are achieved. The cost of the new energy bill plus Blue Hill’s services fee is typically less than the client’s pre-retrofit energy bill.   Blue Hill’s goal is to make it easy and efficient to be energy efficient. Blue Hill currently offers two specialty solutions: outdoor lighting retrofits and science building ventilation upgrades.

Blue Hill was founded in 2001 as a venture investor in new technology companies in the energy efficiency sector. The company reviewed hundreds of business plans over the past decade and invested in seven next-generation efficiency technology companies. While working actively with their portfolio companies, Blue Hill saw that property owners face major financial and logistical challenges in retrofitting buildings. In 2011, Blue Hill conceived of an operating company with a business model designed to reduce these challenges. The result is a business that provides turn-key, funded energy efficiency retrofits as a service, making it financially and operationally easy for property owners to make their buildings more efficient.

Blue Hill has focused on energy efficiency because it’s a market-based, common-sense way to reduce our impact on the environment and improve quality of life. They are passionate about creating value, about collaboration, and about customer service, and intentionally created a business model where the company’s interests are aligned with their clients’ interests.

We became a B Corp because we want to formally and publicly acknowledge the way we have always done business. Our culture is aligned with the B Corp missions and every dollar we make and invest has a direct, positive impact on the environment - that's the beauty of energy efficiency. B Corp certification will be a valuable tool for us going forward, to inspire and benchmark our progress towards becoming an even more socially and environmentally responsible company.

The Change We Seek®

Blue Hill believes it should be easier to improve the environmental and financial performance of assets - whether it's buildings for property owners or capital for investors. Blue Hill's mission is to prove that it can be done.

What makes us a better company?
