About Dolium SA

Dolium: Underground Winery' family-run enterprise started operations practically two decades ago with a state-of-the-art underground facility, located in the heart of the prime winemaking region in Argentina. Dolium is “Amphora” in Latin and Ancient Romans used these clay jars to store and age their best wines by burying them underground.

Their Eco-Estate underground winery was designed to combine old tradition and state-of-the-art technology to produce high quality wines. This allows maintaining stable temperatures –in a high energy efficient way - year round, despite the wide range of daily temperature changes, without using energy for heating or cooling either the wines or the environment. All the operation is run with 8 people side-by-side with the owners. DOLIUM is eco-friendly and has sustainable, organic practices in its vineyard and facility.

Their core business is high-end wines, exporting 60% of their total production to US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Eco-tourism is rising rapidly at a very profitable rate. Visitors enjoy the best tastings and can visit every corner of the winery and vineyard (they have the highest % of excellent ratings in Trip Advisor wineries in their region).

Eco tourism is key to their business, and they provide innovative “responsible tastings” focused on the sustainability of the winery and our Eco-Wines, the nuances of the different wines, and encouraging moderate consumption of alcohol during tasting.

We deeply believe in “using business as a force for good”. We were inspired by how other B Corps operated and by going through the process of BIA & certification would push Dolium to achieve a new level of sustainability. And it did! Our original intent was exploratory, but since we became certified we have embraced a much higher level of social and environmental sustainability. To name a few, we have further improved our waste, energy efficiency and water management, launching a new line of wines under our “Dolium Eco-Estate” label, expanding our eco-local tourism exponentially, and promoting an innovative “eco wine-culture”.

The Change We Seek®

To help the movement to more naturally-produced “Eco-Wines”. These wines highlight the natural flavors of the grape and the unique connection with the terroir. These new and more natural types of eco-wines are less manipulated with wood and are generally more fruity and fresh.
