About WorkSquare

WorkSquare’s team launched the company in 2008 to create a path toward financial stability for South Florida’s low-wage workers. By combining temporary-to-permanent job placement with financial literacy training, WorkSquare empowers its workforce to leverage new jobs to grow income, save money, and start building assets. Meanwhile, WorkSquare is shaking up the way that workers and employers connect – making the low-wage job market more meritocratic, efficient and cost-effective for workers and employers.

We became a B Corp to add our voice to the growing cohort of companies who share a vision of a world transformed by socially impactful businesses. This is a world where top-notch entrepreneurs harness market power to tackle the trickiest social challenges, where philanthropists multiply impact and funding pools by recycling investment dollars, where marginalized individuals – once considered a charity case – are treated with the dignity of consumers who demand products and services designed to fit their needs.

Unlike traditional staffing agencies who apply prohibitive fees or waiting periods that impede employers from hiring on temporary employees, WorkSquare encourages its clients to hire on its employees at any time. This makes WorkSquare a crucial recruiting partner to its many clients in the hospitality, construction, light industrial, property management, and food service sectors. Moreover, WorkSquare provides job opportunities for hundreds of low-wage job-seekers each year, many of whom have struggled in the labor market due to poor work history, language skills, homelessness or other barriers to employment, and offers them a foot in the door to long-term job and financial stability.

The Change We Seek™

WorkSquare was founded to develop a path forward for low-wage workers.

It seeks to offer low-wage workers an alternative to the many labor companies and staffing firms where dead-end jobs, wage theft, and labor law abuses are the norm. It seeks to provide job-seekers with a convenient way to look for and find employment, educating them on the opportunities available to them and rewarding strong performance with further opportunity. It seeks to impart financial skills that empower low-wage workers to gain control of their financial lives and leverage newly earned income to achieve stability and ultimately build assets. It seeks to provide employers a cost-effective and risk-free way to recruit new employees, giving them the option to assess on-the-job performance before they make a permanent hiring decision.

Finally, it seeks to serve as a profitable and replicable model for addressing difficult challenges in workforce development.
