About Context Travel

Context Travel organizes scholar-led walking seminars for intellectually curious travelers who want to break the mold of packaged tours and experience the world's great cities in a more substantial way. Context is dedicated to the cultural patrimony of its cities, and organizes its small group walks (the smallest in the industry) in a manner that is beneficial to the traveler and destination alike.

We became a B Corp in order to further develop our social venture DNA and draw on the expertise and resources of like-minded businesses. Although we pursue some social benefit goals through traditional nonprofit means via a 501c3 charity that we run, we believe our biggest impact is through our socially-minded commercial activity.

A leader in sustainable travel, Context underwrites a range of philanthropic projects in its cities, ranging from a cooperative apprenticeship for artisans in Florence to preservation efforts in a historic synagogue on the Lower East Side of New York to a travel scholarship for low-income students from American inner cities.

The Change We Seek®

Context Travel provides a new way to travel that is more engaging for the traveler and more respectful of the cultural heritage of the destination. Employing a triple-bottom-line approach, Context Travel seeks to transform travel while supporting the unique cultural heritage of the destination cities and provide an equitable place of employment for its staff.
