About Greenlight Apparel

Greenlight Apparel is an athletic apparel company with a unique business model and a mission to empower communities around the globe to rise above poverty. With a passion for a healthy and athletic lifestyle and our "Wear it for Good" motto, we produce the type of athletic apparel we love in a sustainable and ethical way while also donating 25% of our profits to microfinance and education programs.

We became a B Corporation because we wanted to add an esteemed legitimacy to our social and environmental efforts. Not only does it signify our willingness to strive to be a better corporation by our internal measures, but also gives us an opportunity to measure our impact against our peers.

We start by sourcing organic cotton and technical fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles. Then we work with Fair Trade certified production facilities to engineer and produce the performance products we provide for sporting events, companies, teams, and colleges as well as our upcoming retail line.

When it comes to ending global poverty, we recognize that charity is not a sustainable solution. We’re committed to promoting real solutions to big problems and we go beyond just using environmentally friendly materials and avoiding sweatshops by donating 25% of our profits to causes and organizations we support. Working with organizations like the Women’s Microfinance Initiative and the One World's Children Fund, we're able to help provide tools like education and access to financial services to the world’s poorest communities.

Our business model is concerned about more than the end result. We want a product that offers something good from start to finish. By using organic cotton and recycled polyester and by helping to provide education and finance opportunities to women and children, we’re able to offer consumers a sustainable and ethical apparel choice while also taking steps to help communities break the vicious cycle of poverty.

The Change We Seek®

Greenlight lives by its Wear It For Good movement, working hand-in-hand with charitable partners to effect change in struggling communities worldwide. Working with Media Voices for Children, we’ve helped raise awareness of the global child labor and human trafficking crisis. Through Mary’s Meals, we have provided daily, nutritious meals to children at schools, both relieving their hunger and allowing them to attend school rather than scavenge or work for food. Our partnership with One World Children’s Fund champions single, highly-focused projects and ensures 100% of funding is dedicated to the cause.

And with the inauguration of our retail line, our latest bold initiative provides a solar powered lantern to a person in need for every apparel item we sell. Throughout the developing world, poverty-stricken communities must spend 30% of their income on kerosene for light, drastically damaging their environment, while creating a constant threat of fire that can destroy entire slums. Through the simple presence of safe, clean and free light, we enable families to function, children to study, and life to continue after dark. photo 2
