About Dansko

Dansko, literally translated as “Danish Shoe,” was founded in 1990 with a simple, flexible-bottom clog. The brand has since expanded significantly, adding more diverse products from casual to dress, and from sandals to boots.

Dansko became a Founding B Corporation because the Community of B Corporations offers us the perspectives and collective power of many like-minded business leaders who strive for excellence in everything they do.

Dansko strives to be a rewarding company for our stakeholders, our customers, our employees, and our community. We want to be a company that serves to inspire others to become a responsible business. We came from humble beginnings – selling shoes out of the trunk of our car – so we understand the importance of engaging our local community. When we recognized that people were crazy about our shoes, we thought the natural step was to form Dansko and create a platform to amplify our social mission (and obsession with shoes).

• Dansko is proud to announce that our new office building is LEED® Gold Certified! Certification is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and is independent, third party proof that Dansko is committed to being environmentally responsible. Welcome to our 80,000 sq. foot declaration of eco-independence.

• Our headquarters features a “living wall” of plant life in the lobby (one of only four in the United States). Not only eyecatching, it also catches volatile organic compounds from the air. The living wall acts as an air filter for the entire building.

• Dansko is proud to host our township’s only Community Recycling Station, based at our company headquarters in West Grove, PA. We are happy to take care of our neighbor’s unwanted cans, glass containers, plastics, paper, flattened cardboard and other recyclable waste.

• Not only do we pay our employees to take time off to go and volunteer, we take their salary, match it, and give that amount to the organization with which they volunteer.
