About TriLibrium
TriLibrium breaks the mold of Certified Public Accounting firms. The accounting profession is full of people who prepare tax returns, audit financial statements, project cash flow and otherwise account for the financial bottom line. Where conventional firms see those services as the sum total of their business, we view them as a starting point towards building sustainable communities. You notice the difference immediately in our name: TriLibrium is a synthesis of triple bottom line and equilibrium. “Triple bottom line” captures our commitment to the mutually supportive values—people, planet, profit—that distinguish a sustainable business. “Equilibrium” refers to our commitment to establish balance among the three bottom lines in all that we do for our clients and as a firm.
TriLibrium became a B Corporation to insure that the values of sustainability were baked into the firm's DNA. B Corporation offers a benchmark towards excellence and holds organizations accountable while providing guidance towards sustainable communities through holistic business practices.
Inherent in our name is the promise of a different relationship than you’ve experienced with other accounting firms. Honest relationships define TriLibrium. You don’t treat your business, organization or life as a numbers game. And neither will we. In a triple-bottom-line world, numbers rarely tell the whole story or serve as an adequate guide for making decisions or measuring performance.
The Change We Seek®
TriLibrium's mission is to help businesses, organizations, and individuals succeed across the triple-bottom line: People, Planet, and Profit.
• An economy exists to meet human needs. At TriLibrium, we’re contributing to an economy and building a business that works for all. For us, it all begins with honest relationships. It’s what our clients experience in the integrity and professionalism we bring to our engagements. It’s what our community sees in the passion we bring to our work as volunteers. And it’s what we share here at TriLibrium as we create the all-time best workplace.
• Success at the expense of the environment doesn’t count. It’s as simple as that. That’s why we purchase 100% renewable energy for our offices. We offset 150% of our greenhouse gas emissions including employee travel. All of our sourcing and purchasing decisions take into account the vendor’s environmental (and social) policies and practices. And we recycle everything that can reasonably be recycled here in Portland.
• As a CPA firm, we never need to be reminded of the importance of money; whether generating profits for businesses, helping individuals save on taxes or maximizing funds for nonprofits. Helping our clients reach their financial goals is at the heart of our business, tax and financial advice and services. We also value profits at TriLibrium. But making and spending them in support of a sustainable future matters even more.
