In Memory of Andrew Kassoy, co-founder of the B Corp movement

B Lab is mourning the loss of our co-founder, Andrew Kassoy.
Andrew saw that it would take a broad, inclusive movement to transform our economy into one that would care for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. He believed that many actors needed to have a seat at this table: business leaders, policymakers, workers, community organizers, investors, and nature itself.
Andrew often reminded us that B Lab’s goal was never to build an ‘army of B Corps’. Our aim was, and is, to catalyze and enable a movement of sufficient breadth and power to influence change across our entire economic system. That idea is very much alive and has never been more relevant. B Lab will continue to take Andrew’s vision forward, in collaboration with our global network, our community of B Corps, and the broader ecosystem that has flourished in the years since Andrew co-founded B Lab with Jay Coen Gilbert and Bart Houlahan.
It was an honor to have Andrew’s wisdom, energy, humility, and courage at B Lab for the past 19 years. Andrew said he stood on the shoulders of giants who came before; we now stand on his. He will be deeply missed, personally and professionally. But his life’s work will continue, through B Lab’s efforts and those of the many companies and partners who’ve joined and co-created the movement he helped to build.
The New York Times has also honored Andrew’s life and work in an obituary, which you can find here.
