About 5 Lakes Energy

5 Lakes Energy advances policies and programs that promote clean energy, sustainability and the environment. 5 Lakes Energy is committed to supporting and developing the clean energy industry in Michigan and across the U.S.

The 5 Lakes Energy team has a proven track record in the clean energy space. Collectively and individually they are recognized experts in clean energy, sustainability and environmental regulations, particularly as they relate to making clean energy more available and affordable.

Working with foundations, think-tanks, industry associations, non-profits, and private businesses in the clean energy industry, 5 Lakes Energy offers services in business organization, legislative and regulatory affairs, expert testimony, modelling and analysis of energy policy, and community engagement.

We began the process of becoming a B Corp to rigorously evaluate the social and environmental impact of our business activity and services. Becoming a Certified B Corp demonstrates our commitment to improving how our business model creates value and gives back to the communities we work for and in. As a B Corp, we are excited to join a community of business leaders who are redefining success through regenerative business models and progressive action.

The Change We Seek®

As a company, 5 Lakes Energy has always promoted clean energy and sustainability through their services. But they also strive to increase their focus on the triple bottom line -- serving their clients, their community, their environment, and their employees. As they progress as a B Corp, 5 Lakes Energy seeks to improve their impact measurement, and as clean energy leaders, to measure, reduce, and offset the primary sources of greenhouse gas emissions from our business-related travel.

Although they work with clients across the country, Michigan is their home, and they are proud of their efforts to help Michigan grow the clean energy industry. They are committed to policy advocacy, as well as support and analysis for Michigan’s clean energy businesses and leaders. They seek to strengthen Michigan’s position as a clean energy leader, and to advance the transition to a low-carbon energy future.

Beyond supporting the clean energy industry, through their own actions and their engagement with other businesses, 5 Lakes Energy aspires to transform business strategy to align sustainability with companies’ mission, purpose, and impact. They seek to inform and assist other businesses to join their fellow Michigan B Corps, and the global B Corp community.
