About Winkler Partners

Winkler Partners was the first law firm in Taiwan approved to operate as a partnership between Taiwanese and foreign attorneys. Since 2002, they have supported clients with a broad range of legal services from intellectual property, corporate and cross border dispute resolution. Particular areas of expertise include employment, investment, insurance and data protection.

The spirit of B Corp runs in unison with many themes outlined in our founding Roadmap, and echoes many of the values we espouse. As part of the commitments to community, we have developed programs to minimize the negative environmental impact of operating the firm’s business. These include rainwater capture, the building of a rooftop garden in downtown Taipei where produce is grown and a natural habitat for birds and insects is created. The firm has also implemented waste reduction and recycling programs and a composting system, and engaged in energy use monitoring. Winkler Partners is a proud member of 1% for the Planet and since 2003 has donated more than 1% of total service revenues to the Wild at Heart Legal Defense Association (social & environmental issues). Winkler Partners has also engaged in traditional pro bono support for other social movements including Forward Taiwan (immigration reform) and the Taiwan Inter-Company LGBT Network (diversity and inclusion).

Input from all colleagues at Winkler Partners is encouraged and often drives firm-wide decision making across all areas of the business. The firm provides on-site childcare and competitive benefits, continuing education opportunities and a flat management style. These values are shared by the B Corp movement and it was natural for the firm to join.

Winkler Partners always strives to do better. Obtaining B Corp certification has not only allowed the firm to quantify what is already being done, but provides an opportunity to identify areas in which more can be done to improve the firm’s work and learn from other leading companies in this area. We hope that being part of the B Corp movement will enable us to offer our clients, colleagues and community greater transparency, increased accountability and the opportunity to learn and grow together.

The section focuses on whether a company sells products or services that promote public benefit, and if those products/services are targeted towards serving underserved populations. Questions in this section will measure whether a company's product or service is designed to solve a social or environmental issue (e.g. improves health, preserves environment or creates economic opportunity to individuals or communities, promotes the arts/sciences, or increases the flow of capital to purpose-driven enterprises).

The section also measures the company's practices and policies around community service and charitable giving.
