The Founders Fund for B Lab

In 2006, B Lab was formally launched by three college friends who shared a hope for a better way to do business: better for workers, better for communities, better for the planet. In 2022, B Lab Global transitioned from a founder-led organization and welcomed Lead Executive Eleanor Allen to the constellation of leaders that is the B Global Network.

B Lab recognizes Andrew Kassoy, Bart Houlahan, and Jay Coen Gilbert for their visionary leadership. To honor their work, we ask for your support in this next leg of the journey. 

Leadership transitions are always critical. Eleanor joins B Lab at a moment when we’re experiencing unprecedented demand from companies applying to join our movement, and working to scale the B Global Network — empowering businesses around the world to address the confluence of crises faced by our interdependent planet. 

To honor Andrew, Bart, and Jay’s legacy, B Lab’s Board of Directors has established The Founders Fund. This is a pooled funding mechanism that we are asking their close personal friends and longtime supporters to help stand up, in order to provide the funding we need to build on this legacy and ensure Eleanor has the flexible support she needs during this transition period. 

Like never before, a shift toward our founders' vision of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy feels urgent and possible. With Eleanor’s leadership, the B Corp movement will continue to lead, to take risks, and to demand an economic system that works for all people and the planet.
