NEW YORK, OCTOBER 5, 2022 — In partnership with Hueman Group Media, B Lab Global, the nonprofit network powering the B Corp movement, is proud to announce the launch of FORCES FOR GOOD. This new podcast will take a hard look at how businesses are helping solve the biggest social and environmental challenges of our time, and offer strategies for transformation and resilience through conversations with industry experts and change-makers from within the B Corp movement and beyond.

Building on a pilot season embedded within Hueman Group Media and Humanity Lab Foundation’s Webby-winning series FINDING HUMANITY, this new series engages voices from a range of industries and geographies on pressing questions about how business can move beyond its historical role as a driver of negative, extractive, and exploitative impacts — from climate change to economic inequality — to become a powerful part of solutions critical to the future of all people and the planet.

Through ten interconnected episodes, host Irving Chan Gomez, Global Partnerships and Growth Manager at B Lab Global, leads guests from business, research, activist, and civil society sectors through dialogue that holistically addresses how companies can make and maintain commitments to key areas of social and environmental impact.

“This podcast will ask listeners to reimagine the role of business in our world,” said Chan Gomez.“What would it be like if companies were built not simply to maximize profits, but to make a truly positive impact on the issues that matter most to our collective future? What are the tradeoffs that come with business taking that direction? And what is our role, as people — either leading businesses, working for them, buying from them, or investing in them — in shaping this new kind of economy?”

The first episode, available on October 11, 2022, takes on what it means to be a purpose-driven business, looking at how growing social and environmental conscientiousness in the business community has led many companies to rethink their mission and become increasingly accountable for impact beyond return on investment for shareholders. Listeners will hear contributions from guest speakers Gail Bradbrook, founder of climate activist group Extinction Rebellion; Anthea Kelsick, former Co-CEO of B Lab U.S. & Canada, Senior Advisor at Novata, and B Lab U.S. & Canada Board Member; Dan Osusky, Head of Standards & Insights at B Lab Global; and Alain Sylvain, Co-founder and CEO of SYLVAIN.

“We’re grateful to continue our partnership with Hueman Group Media, through a powerful season that both inspires with stories from compelling leaders and addresses the complexity of what it really takes to use business as a force for good,” said Hannah Munger, Director of Global Communications & Marketing at B Lab Global. “At a time when ESG and stakeholder capitalism are facing heightened opposition, it’s critical to counter that narrative with credible, real-world stories that show that businesses can create value and positive impact for all their stakeholders when they prioritize and are accountable to them.”

Upcoming episodes feature speakers from B Corps including Tony’s Chocolonely, Sendle,Future Super, Natura & Co., Soko , W+K Amsterdam, Natura/The Body Shop, Clothing the Gaps, Culture Amp, and Ace & Tate; and other organizations including Fairtrade, Bonduelle, Rainforest Alliance, Magalu, PWC, and WWF.

“FORCES FOR GOOD, at its core, explores the humanity of businesses,” said Camille Laurente, CEO at Hueman Group Media. “Through stories and bold insights from leaders and activists, our podcast looks into how businesses can be made more accountable for their environmental and social commitments. What action can we demand from businesses today, in order to change the course of history?”
